Our Instructors are the pride of the ITA.  These individuals have dedicated their lives to the ITA method and helping others learn their art.  Becoming an Instructor in the ITA takes tremendous commitment and many hours of training.  Maintaining a teaching certificate is a continuing process involving further education and annual renewal.

CPR and First Aid Certified

All Instructors who are 18 years old or older are required to maintain CPR and First Aid Certification as part of their Instructor qualifications.

Background Checks

The ITA conducts background checks on all Instructors who are 18 years old or older, and ITA-licensed member academy directors conduct additional background checks on all volunteers, trainees, and employees who are 18 years old or older in their academies.  We are serious about protecting the safety of our members.

Annual Qualification and Continuing Education

All ITA Instructors are required to earn a minimum amount of event credits in order to keep their certification active.  This requirement was put in place for several reasons.  By attending these international events, our Instructors are kept up-to-date with the latest policies and teaching methods being implemented in our organization.  It is the ITA’s belief that when an Instructor stops training and developing, he or she stops being a good Instructor. The continuous training and development that we require helps make the Instructor more creative, realistic, and effective, and it gives him or her much needed insight into teaching.
